About the Center

The Center for Dynamic Causality is an independent research organization dedicated to the study of dynamic causality. The Center focuses on three distinct fields of study: Dynamic Causality, Dynamic Chronometry, and Dynamic Knowledge Representation. All three fields have a historic grounding and a static subject-object assumption dating back to Aristotle's metaphysics. However, the static assumption breaks in nearly every advanced field of science, engineering, or technology. The Center's three research areas investigate how a dynamic foundation rooted in Whitehead's process philosophy advances dynamic causality, dynamic chronometry, and dynamic knowledge.

Founding context

The Center was founded by Marvin Hansen and is designated as the institutional home of the broader research that emerged from the DeepCausality project.

The DeepCausality project started in 2021, and was officially accepted into the Linux Foundation in 2023. In late 2025, the single axiomatic foundation of the underlying Effect Propagation Process was formulated, and subsequently implemented via the Causal Monad in the DeepCausality project. Subsequent research built atop the causal monad led to the implementation of dynamic chronometry and the exploration of dynamic knowledge representation.

The DeepCausality project remains under the open governance of the Linux Foundation with the understanding that new insights developed at the Center for Dynamic Causality, once verified, are contributed back to the DeepCausality project.

Contributions

The Center dedicates its research contributions to science in three ways. First, foundational reports and publications, such as the EPP monograph, are developed openly and made available as preprints, with the intent of eventual formal open-access publication. Second, open-source reference implementations are provided as production-quality Rust crates, released under the permissive MIT open-source license. Third, reference datasets are published as permanent open access with persistent DOI identifiers.
